Black Women for Obama Take Message of Hope to South Carolina

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 6, 2007
(http://www.blackwomenforobama.org) Black Women for Obama, a professional grass-roots organization of Barack Obama supporters today announced that they will be leveraging the resources of their national organization to assist the South Carolina "Obama for America" volunteer force with contacting voters about Senator Barack Obama and his candidacy.

The organization plans to use its considerable network of resources to help the Obama Campaign make contact with as many South Carolina voters as possible. "South Carolina is a key state for the campaign," says Yvonne Robinson, South Carolina's Black Women for Obama State Chapter Director. "About one-third of all the voters in the South Carolina primary will be African-American women. Having Black Women for Obama chapters around the country to assist us in reaching these women will mean a great deal to our ability to get the word out about our candidate and win the state."

"Our goal is to get 100% participation from our chapters", says Patricia Wilson-Smith, the group's Executive Director. "Each of the State Chapter heads will be responsible for garnering their troops to this cause. BWFO will do its part to win South Carolina for the Senator!"

The group's pledge of additional support to the South Carolina canvassing effort comes at a time when there is a national focus on the quandary created by the Clinton and Obama candidacies for African American female voters. "We are solidly behind Senator Obama," says Brenda K. Johnson, National Membership and Outreach Coordinator for BWFO. "We are making it our job to let the nation know that for lots of black women, there is no ambiguity, and no hesitation about our choice for the next President of the United States."

Black Women for Obama has official chapters in Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington State. Members of state and local chapters participate in canvassing events, GOTV efforts, registration drives, and fund raising for Senator Obama.
